All homes with children need, animal shape coat hangers

Use scrap pieces of supawood and paint to craft these adorable coat hangers for a children's bedroom. We've made a selection of animal designs for you to copy.

You will need:
12mm PG Bison Supawood
Jigsaw and fretsaw blade
Dremel Multitool and sanding ring - or - 120-grit sandpaper
Acrylic craft paint
Small paintbrush and fine, artist's paintbrush

Here's how:

1. Draw your designs onto pieces of 12mm PG Bison Supawood.
The easiest way to cut out the shapes is with a jigsaw and fretsaw blade.
This blade is shorter and narrower than a standard cutting blade and allows you to manoeuver around corners and curves.

2. A Dremel Multitool with sanding ring is perfect for sanding around and smoothing once you have cut out the design.

If you don't own a Dremel Multitool, use 120-grit sandpaper.

3. Use white acrylic PVA for a base coat. Apply one smooth coat and let this dry.
Use carbon paper or tracing paper to transfer the design onto the front of the coat hanger.
We used an artist's paintbrush and acrylic craft paints to create the wonderful animal designs for our coat hangers.

Finishing
To give some shading to the designs you can use a small, soft sponge to apply lighter or darker colours over the top of the main colours. It just gives a nice finish.
